The total weight of 6 pieces of butter and a bag of sugar is 3.8 lb. If the weight of the bag of sugar is 1.4 lb, what is the weight of each piece of butter?

3.8 - 1.4 is 2.4. When you divide that by the remaining 6 pieces of butter, you get .4 oz of butter.
