Did the Watergate scandal have any lasting effects on the nation? Explain.

It did. Following things such as JFK's assassination and then later the Watergate scandal, people started questioning their government way more. Up until the turmoil filled period of the 60s, people believed that their government was always honest and doing in their best interest, however, following events such as Watergate, things slowly changed and people began questioning what was going on and what were the real motives behind almost every decision.
