-4(r+6)=-63

first: substitute -4 to the brackets (r+6)

-4r - 24 = - 63

add 24 to both sides

-4r - 24 + 24 = -63 + 24

simplify

-4r = -39

divide both sides by -4

r = 9.75

hope that helps
