What did the Monroe doctrine do for the u.s.and europe

The Monroe Doctrine was an official document written by the 5th president of the US, James Monroe, and stated that Europe had to keep out of the Western Hemisphere, including Latin America, and that if they did it was the US's job to protect any country Europe invaded.
