Geography as a field focuses on how different places on Earth have distinct features, how those features develop and how they interact with human activity.

The ice ages were times when features of large areas were very distinct from other times and had a very special character (it was very cold and the earth was frozen over) and they had a great influence on human life. Geography is a field in which those ice ages are studied.
