The area of ANY rectangle (including squares) is  

                                    (length) times (width).

Area of Jarel's garden =      (9-ft)  x  (3-ft)  =  27 square-feet

Area of Morgan's garden =  (6-ft)  x  (6-ft)  =  36 square-feet .

Morgan's garden has more area. 

       (36 square-feet) - (27 square-feet)  =  9 more square-feet .
